York Students Taught Employability

15th February 2012: The University of York is increasingly teaching its students that employability is the one thing to always stay focused on. With unemployment figures increasing all the time, it is now harder than ever before for graduates to get jobs after university. Jobs for students and graduates are scarce.

To combat this, York, one of the top universities in the UK, has begun aiming much of their teaching towards the practical side of gaining employment as well as the academic side of learning. Through work shops and constant reminders of the students' final goal, York hopes to instill a confidence within its students. This, the university hopes, will gives its students the edge over others from universities near the top of UK university ranking tables.

With part time jobs for students also becoming harder to come by, debt is increasing for many, making it even more vital to gain a job soon after graduating.
