Families in the UK Hosting International Students

Do you want to learn more about UK culture in a friendly and welcoming environment? Would you like the chance to visit a English, Welsh, Irish, or Scottish family? HOST UK offers international students the opportunity to do all of these things and more.

HOST UK is a charity which arranges for international students studying at British universities the chance to stay in a British home for a weekend, a day, or for Christmas. The students get a unique insight into the way of life in Britain. Students also get a chance to share their own culture with their hosts.

Apart from an administration fee (which many universities pay for their students), all you have to pay for is your travel to get to and from the host's home.

Who & Where?

If you are worried about staying in a strangers house on your own, you can go with a friend (so long as they are also an international student studying in Britain), your partner or yourchildren. All the hosts are met and inducted by HOSTHost UK Regional Organisers who make sure there homes are safe and comfortable.

Although you cannot choose exactly where in the UK you would like to visit, you can choose to either go somewhere near your university or somewhere else in the country. Remember, a HOST visit is about meeting new people, exploring unknown parts of the UK, getting to know British life and exchanging cultures. HOST UK's ultimate ambition is to promote international friendship and understanding.

HOST UK is a one-of-a-kind charity, the only one in Britain and perhaps in the world. You can spend three or more years in the UK and not get to know the people and culture as well as you will from one weekend on a HOST visit.

They offer an exciting opportunity for international students to make new friends and share their culture through a HOST visit.

"I spent two nights with David and Patricia in Ardgay, Scotland. What a fantastic Easter holiday with stunning views, charming attractions around Scotland, ceilidh dance, nice foods by Patricia, mountain walks...and many other things with a lot of fun. Many thanks to David, Patricia, and HOST UK."

"HOST UK is a great organization for international students to experience real British family life, and make friends with local people. Just stay in University will not enhance your understanding of the United Kingdom, as a result we should go out to society, this is a good way to learn culture and broaden your horizon, even enhance your employability after graduation."
