Credit Manager

Role Overview:

The credit manager position is accountable for the credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses. In addition, this position will oversee collection activities for the region and is the escalation point for issues that are not resolved by the collection personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

Management
1. Decisions credit requests in timely manner, negotiating with customers and sales staff when necessary
2. Monitor activity of Collectors ensuring key measurements are met
3. Monitor and report high level collection activity, cash collections, dso, delinquencies, bad debt
4. Manage relations with collection agencies
5. Manage relations with credit reporting agencies
6. Manage relations with credit insurance providers
7. Manage relations with the sales department

Credit Operations
1. Manage credit requests and activity within the corporate credit policy
2. Recommend changes in the credit policy to senior management
3. Manage customer credit files
4. Monitor the credit granting and updating process
5. Monitor periodic credit reviews
6. Monitor deductions being taken by customers
7. Manage the application of late fees
8. Negotiate letters of credit and bank guarantees as required
9. Work with collections as needed on issues escalated by staff, sales personnel or customers

Desired Qualifications:

Credit experience within a business to business global corporation environment.
Bachelor's degree in business and experience with credit scoring systems preferred.
Have a thorough knowledge of credit-related laws.
Knowledge of letters of credit and bank guarantees.
Be willing to periodically travel to customer sites.
Have considerable experience with customer negotiations.

Working Conditions:

Works in a fast-paced office environment.
Expected to travel to customer locations on short notice to conduct negotiations.
Occasional overtime may be necessary
