Graduate Planner

My client is the UK's first national custom build housing enabler who deliver small and large-scale development projects across the built environment. They have presented a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Town Planner to join their growing team!

Since their launch in 2019, the team have enabled several development sites in partnership with landowners, local planning authorities, land promoters and house builders and have developed a large pipeline of new homes across the UK!

As part of this agile, multidisciplinary team the successful candidate will play a unique role by co-ordinating some of the teams' development projects and will support the Planning Director as the team expands!

The role will also involve the identification and appraisal of sites from a planning policy perspective to so-ordinate planning applications and secure consents in close co-operation with external planning consultancies; to make representations to development plans; and engage with local communities.

Key Responsibilities

- Creation of site-specific documents, including site appraisals, enabling plans, proposals, presentations and reports.
- Administration of internal and external collaborative work and projects.
- Creation of demand assessment reports for prospective developments and to infirm planning applications.
- Creation of valuation appraisals for housing delivery purposes.
- Minuting and administration of meetings, both in person and virtually.
- Building strong working relationships with other departments, in particular urban design, architecture, and sales.
- Addressing the sustainability of sites from a planning policy perspective and provide planning advice to design teams in discussion with the Planning Director.
- Instructing planning consultants on planning applications and overseeing progress.
- Preparing draft development plan representations.

Candidate Requirements

- Previous experience in either construction, housing or planning sectors.
- Working knowledge of the planning system in England and Scotland.
- Postgraduate Degree in Town Planning or Housing.
- Full UK Driver's licence.
- Good overall IT knowledge including Microsoft office and Excel.
- Excellent time management with the ability to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills and be able to demonstrate patience and diligence.
- Bright and friendly with a proactive, positive can-do attitude!
