We are delighted to be working with a leading provider of car insurance for the UK motor market. Based in the city of London our client is looking to add to their claims management team in order to support their plans for growth. They have made a number of key appointments over the last 18-months and are very much going from strength to strength.

About the Role

The overall purpose of the role is to manage the large loss team based in the London office and oversee the entire portfolio of large loss claims. This will include controlling the approach to reserving and manage the indemnity spend. As leader of the large loss team you will drive the handling culture and devise strategies to ensure claims are settled promptly and fairly.

This role requires an experienced figurehead who is able represent the department internally and externally and champion the team within the market. Naturally, the role holder will understand the various functions within a general insurer and collaboration will be required, particularly with underwriting and finance.

About You

We are seeking experienced motor large loss practitioners with proven experience of settling motor liability claims in excess of £3 million by way of lump sum or periodical payments. Your technical knowledge and experience will include a deep understanding of the Road Traffic Act. You will also be an experienced people manager with the ability to lead and motivate a team of highly technical handlers by using your excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As Head of large loss you will also be responsible for the strategy and direction of the department and therefore you will have a strong market awareness with the ability to represent the business at market forums and manage the large loss claims relationship with Reinsurers.
