The role:
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk you will be managing a set number of Merchandise Suppliers, including being the first point of contact for any queries. To control and monitor monies due to Argos from Merchandise Suppliers and to operate an efficient debt-collecting programme.

Main duties and responsibilities within the role:
Investigating disputes between suppliers’ sales ledger and outstanding balance on bought ledger along with unacknowledged debit notes on the accounts payable processing system.
Produce and issue monthly debit balance report for management reviews.
Reconcile movement on the outstanding retention nominal ledger account and suppliers debit/credit balances.
Operate an affective debt collecting system, incorporating telephone calls, statements, overdue letters and legal documents communication.
Liaise with Accounts Payable staff on supplier account enquiries. Action correspondence from suppliers in respect of outstanding invoices, credit notes and copy debit notes.
Investigate sundry credit notes.
Communicate to supplier re EDI Invoice rejections.

Main requirements:
Sound knowledge required of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Team player and able to work on their own initiative.
Must be numerate.
Must be experienced in a computerised Sales/Bought Ledger function.
Experience of Statement of Account reconciliation’s.
