Midwife Safeguarding Lead

A leading NHS organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Midwife who has led on the Safeguarding agenda for the organisation. 

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake the role and competencies outlined with ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children ’ 2018 and the RCPCH Intercollegiate (2019) guidance;
Act as lead professional for Midwifery Safeguarding Children’s Services to provide expert advice and to promote excellent professional practice that is consistent with all areas of the organisation;
Ensure appropriate information sharing in order to support the protection of vulnerable children and young people;
Responsible for ensuring that expert advice, education and support is available to all health professionals within The Maternity Services to enable all staff to offer high quality individualised care to vulnerable women and their babies and families;
Work with the Head of Safeguarding and The Head of Midwifery, Women & Children’s – Family Health Division in developing links, maintaining liaison and screening data from other hospitals and other partners relating to safeguarding;
Provide input into the work of the Safeguarding Team and support the achievement of the Excellence in Safeguarding Strategy;
Demonstrate dynamic innovative behaviours and strong leadership skills to ensure that safeguarding continues to develop in the Trust in accordance with identified need, and is delivered with evidence based, person centred approach.
A successful candidate will have:

Registered Midwife, with 3 years relevant experience of working with children and families;
In depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and its application to practice;
In depth and up to date knowledge of Safeguarding, Children Act 1989/2004, CIN,LAC, Domestic Abuse, Public Protection and how these are integrated in national and local policy.
