Purchase Ledger Assistant

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our young and dynamic Accounts team.

Based from our head office in Nottingham you will be responsible for the timely processing of all aspects of the purchase ledger. You will work as part of a team to develop streamlined and innovative processes as well as playing a key role in carrying out the wide-ranging administration duties within the accounts department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Accurate entry of purchase invoices onto Navision once authorised, raising any queries with supplier in a timely manner;
- Reconcile supplier statements when requested;
- Identity and analyse reasons for large cost price variances and report to Directors;
- Monitor company stationery needs and raise necessary purchase orders, ensuring most competitive prices at all times;
- Prepare customer credit requests and accurately enter onto Navision once authorised;
- Process/check monthly credit card bills ensuring all necessary VAT receipts are received – once authorised, post to Navision;
- Process customer card payments over the telephone and administer/update sales orders accordingly;
- Nominal account reconciliations;
- Month-end variance analysis;
- Weekly duty analysis, checking and posting to Navision;
- Process weekly supplier container payments and posting to Navision accurately in the relevant currency/at relevant exchange rate.

Knowledge and Skills

- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- The ability to work at a fast pace on multiple projects;
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles
- Excellent IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Exceptional data entry skills
