Street Lighting Supervisor

A leading Highways Maintenance company is looking to recruit a Supervisor in the Stevenage area on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising numerous sites undergoing street-lighting maintenance and refurbishment works . The purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of Highways Repairs and Maintenance. To be responsible for the direct control of operatives and individual work sites, to carry out all works in a safe and cost-effective manner in line with company policies, processes and procedures, to achieve customer satisfaction.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

To work safely and be responsible for personal safety, the safety of the whole team, and that of others who come into contact with our work.
To maximise value and to minimise cost, ensure costs are correctly allocated and be responsible for his costs and value and ensure all relevant financial and commercial process and procedures are followed.
To undertake audits to ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met.
To ensure all required checks of plant, equipment and vehicles are carried out including completion of associated reports.
To survey, plan and implement works, including setting out where required.
To adequately supervise the workforce, including sub-contractors, planning and ordering materials to ensure timely delivery.
To effectively and accurately pass on instructions to the workforce, keeping a record of progress and any amendments to the work.
To ensure all required daily and weekly record sheets are accurately completed, including measurement of works undertaken and submitted promptly.
To supervise and direct out of office hours emergency activities as required.
Produce statutory undertakers plans, raise permits and organise cable fault repairs.
Monitor vehicles for MOT, LOLER, servicing and manage breakdown repairs.
Carry out monthly on site audits.Experience required;

Computer literate and a competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word or similar software.
Setting production targets from programming information and ensuring gang meets target set.
Enthusiastic and a team player
Flexible in terms of hours worked, attitude and tasks undertaken.
Able to communicate, manage and motivate.
Organised and competent in completing paperwork.
Works accurately with attention to detail.
Holds a current driving license. (LGV licence would be desirable)
Holds the appropriate Street Works qualification's
Competent and trained to operate powered hand tools such as disc cutters.
Competent by training to undertake basic safety, quality and environmental audits.Qualifications Required:

* G39 Competency certificate
* Cat & Genny
* MEWPS Certificate
* C & G 2365 Level 3, or C & G 2330 Level 3
* Extensive knowledge of Highway Maintenance, formal qualification desirable.

Desirable:

Holds a current CSCS and ECS registration as Supervisor.
Holds or working towards NVQ level 3.Personal qualities;
Easy to talk too, approachable, good at working under pressure and to programme
