Tax Assistant

Summary of role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established whilst dynamic and fast growing private client department. It is expected that candidates will have relevant tax experience, excellent A level results and, if a graduate, a minimum 2:1 degree classification.

The role involves working with a wide variety of clients including employees, entrepreneurs and high-net worth individuals, with a mixture of international and domestic financial affairs. This would suit an ambitious candidate with a desire to further their education with a professional qualification whilst receiving relevant experience and on-the-job training within a top London practice. For candidates, excellent communications skills are a must, as are the personal skills necessary to work as a team member and build and maintain good relations with clients. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong numerical and analytical skills, be self-motivated and their development will lead them to be able to contribute to advice and work on all aspects of personal tax matters within the allocated portfolio of clients.

Responsibilities
• Corresponding with clients, tax authorities and third parties on a daily basis on a wide variety of personal tax matters;
• Technical research, preparing client documents including annual tax returns for clients within an allocated portfolio and ensuring all are compliant with tax regulations;
• Monitoring client deadlines and advising on tax payments;
• Assist with P11D preparation;
• Responsible for providing consistent and quality client service which includes maintaining regular client contact such as meetings, emails and telephone liaison;
• Providing advice to the clients in their portfolio;
• Being point of contact for tax queries from other departments within the firm and similarly, referring clients/client matters to other parts of the firm where appropriate;
• Ensuring compliance with internal quality control and risk managements procedures.

• Annual appraisal process and 6 monthly performance reviews

Academic Requirements
• If a graduate, a minimum 2:1 degree classification
• 300 UCAS points (The exams must have been sat in the same academic year and we do not consider re-sits or General Studies.)
• Strong GCSE results (minimum grade B in Maths and B in English Language)
• Support will be given to study/continue to study for the ATT and subsequently CTA qualifications
