T&C Co-ordinator – Stations

Purpose of the Job

A site-based system integration and commissioning specialist is required to support the Employer in implementing the Testing and Commissioning strategy for the Station, Shafts, and Portal (SSP) projects. They will support station-based teams in fulfilling all Testing and Commissioning requirements of the project in a manner that ensures full integration between systems across the Central Operating Section.

Principal Accountabilities

• Ensure that all station integration and testing is completed by managing multiple stakeholders across contracts in a complex matrix organisation

• Apply practical systems integration know-how and experience to create a mindset of completion and closeout within a community of participants who are focused on their discrete scope

• Provide in-depth technical support to each individual project team in their preparations and during the testing and commissioning of MEP and systemwide equipment as well as support to their management of systemwide interfaces on the project

• Reviewing Testing and Commissioning documentation produced by the individual Contractors

• Monitor/report progress towards Testing & Commissioning of the Station including ensuring evidence of satisfactory results are compiled and processed in support of the assurance strategy

• Provide clarity and communication to the project delivery teams on the Testing and Commissioning process including certification

• Collaborate and co-operate with other entities involved in station system delivery, Chief Engineer’s Group, systemwide test teams including Dynamic Testing of trains

• Support the station-based team in managing interfaces during integration and commissioning, and inputs to conducting testing across multiple contracts

Main challenges of the job

Supporting the Employer in relation to understanding and ensuring the coordination and integration of Testing and Commissioning activities to fulfil all defined requirements, including schedule, compliance and self-assured quality for assigned systems/assets.

Influencing a matrix organisation at project level to deliver a successful and Integrated Testing & Commissioning strategy.

Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all the key stakeholders in a large multi-tier infrastructure project.

Person Specification

Systems integration professional with suitable experience on London Underground and/or mass transit rail station systems

All-round experience across multiple mechanical, electrical, and communications systems rather than a specialist in a single discipline (LV switching & distribution, lighting, HVAC, fire detection and suppression, lifts and escalators, BMS, control room systems and SCADA and comms including: radio, CCTV, PAVA, telephony, CIS, etc)

Highly motivated to drive completion and close out of project activities ensuring systems integration integrity of the holistic Railway System

Sufficiently assertive to succeed in the matrix environment with confidence gained through achievement of tangible results on previous projects

Extensive experience and knowledge in managing the full lifecycle of MEP and Communications systems for Stations and Rail Systems, including the management of testing and commissioning in the railway environment

Knowledge and understanding of working arrangements with joint ventures, alliances and consortia

Ability to form positive relationships and interfaces with all stakeholders, management, and functional groups

Understanding of Health & Safety requirements for Railway Infrastructure projects, including knowledge of the application of the CDM Regulations and the CSM-RA process for system risk management and control
