Locum Consultant Elderly Care

We are recruiting for a Locum Consultant Physician in Elderly Medicine, with an interest in Stroke Medicine Directorate: Adult Medicine Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year

The Trust is looking to appoint a Locum Consultant Physician in Elderly Medicine, with an interest in Stroke Medicine /thrombolysis, hyper acute and acute stroke care.

The Trust currently provides 24/7 stroke thrombolysis with out of hours cover provided by telemedicine and shared by consultants in the North and West Kent Hospitals. The department of Ageing and Health is expanding their foot print and is developing frailty services and acute Geriatric Medicine.

The Trust offers a comprehensive range of acute services, with a bed-base of 544, to around 400,000 people in North Kent and South East London.

They can offer you the opportunity to join an enthusiastic, progressive and expanding Elderly care team in a modern, well-equipped hospital. They also have close working links with a large, tertiary linked neurology team.

You will join an existing team of 6 Consultants in the department of Ageing and Health. The department has two deanery approved SpR posts. The post is initially contracted to 10 programmed activities per week, although this will be reviewed in due course.

Active participation in research, audit and teaching is encouraged and supported. There are opportunities to develop other sub-specialty interests, such as education.

This is an exciting time to join as they feature prominently in proposals to improve stroke care across Kent and Medway, by developing a number of Hyper-Acute Stroke Units. This will ensure they provide a forward thinking and innovative service, and deliver the best possible care to stroke patients and their families.

Essential Criteria
You should possess a CCT or be within three months of obtaining. You will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. This is a locum appointment; however future substantive recruitment is planned.
