Internships

Why Should I do an Internship?

Student internships are a great way to gain experience. For foreign students it's the perfect way to get  an understanding about how business is conducted in the English-speaking world and a chance to experience a different working culture. Not only that, but they also look great on your CV and can lead to opportunities for permanent work.

Am I Allowed to do an Internship?

There are a number of rules about foreign students working in the UK whilst they are studying. The basics for a foreign student who would like to do an internship are:

- During term time foreign students must do no more than 20 hours work a week, either paid or unpaid

- During vacations foreign students can work full time

If you are unsure what your visa allows you to do, then check with your international student adviser or welfare officer.
