Record Numbers of Students Setting up their own Businesses

18th January 2012: More and more graduates and students are setting up their own businesses as part of a new scheme aimed to help entrepreneurial students. The ‘Young Enterprise Start-up' programme is getting record numbers of students signing up, as the number of traditional jobs for students continues to fall.

Half way through this academic year, over 1,500 students from some of the top universities in the UK have signed up to the scheme. Between them they are running 255 businesses in everything from tea bags, to web design, to candles- enough to make even the top business schools in the UK proud.

Students in London appear especially keen to take part, as jobs in London for students become more and more competitive. For students from overseas the chance to make some extra money whilst studying is a brilliant opportunity, especially as scholarships for international students becomes harder to get.
