Cutting Foreign Student Numbers will Cost £2.4billion

British Home Secretary Theresa May has been criticised for her plans to reduce the number of non-EU international students coming to the UK over the coming years. Indeed, even Home Office figures show that it will cost the economy £2.4billion more than it will save. The cuts are to help meet migration caps promised by the government, but do not take into account the economic and social losses.

Immigration Cuts may Harm Science Sector

The science and engineering industries in the UK have revealed their concerns about the new student immigration laws. In an article in Engineering and Technology Magazine leading figures expressed their worries that the reduced numbers of interntaional students coming to the UK may make it more difficult for the sector to recruit skilled workers.
