Collapsed Holiday Company Leaves Travellers Stranded

3rd August 2011: 12,000 Brits have been stranded abroad after the Brighton based tour operator Holidays 4 UK collapsed after financial difficulties. It was revealed that the company went in to administration after it has struggled with demand for travel in Europe.

However, the Foreign office has moved to allay the fears of the stranded holiday makers, stating that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has worked with airlines to make sure that all 12,000 of the Holidays 4 UK customers can return home:

"The CAA will ensure that all Holidays 4 UK customers are able to fly home as planned; they should therefore arrive at the airport in time to check in for their flights home as normal".

Without the involvement of the CAA, the Brits could well have been stuck abroad, having to pay to stay in hostels and hotels out of their own pocket if they don't have travel insurance.

Bed Down for the Night on New UK Coaches

3rd August 2011: The first budget sleeper coaches are going to be introduced in the UK next month, giving passengers between London and Glasgow their own bed. Stagecoach, a UK operator that runs buses and coaches, revealed the new scheme, which will also offer passengers free Wi-Fi, refreshments and an overnight pack containing a toothbrush, toothpaste and a bottle of water.

Stagecoach group chief executive, Sir Brian Souter, said;

"Travelling overnight is a great way to save time, and we've already seen growing demand for our night-time megabus.com journeys. The new sleeper services will offer extra comfort and facilities, but still at excellent value for money prices".

Coach travel is a student travel top tip, for moving between cities in the UK due to how cheap it is compared to UK trains, and indeed, the most expensive ticket for the new sleeper journeys will be just £40.
