5 Tips for Getting a Job in London

Working in London is a great experience, culturally and professionally. But it’s not always easy to land a job, so here are our top tips to help you in your graduate job hunt.

Visa and NI number

The first and most important thing you need before you apply for a graduate job is eligibility to work in the UK. If you are a British or EU citizen you are eligible as long as you are able to provide your passport or ID. However if you do not have a British/EU country passport or Dual Citizenship you must get a work visa or permit before you arrive in London.

The second essential thing that you need to work in the UK is a National Insurance number. Apply for this on the first day of your job by calling Job Plus and arranging a time.

What Students Will Pay for a London Apartment

Small, cramped apartments that are unkempt, untidy and filled with students are a hallmark of life for many students no matter where they go to university. When shopping for a flat in London, you need to know what you are willing to pay for a place to live before you start looking.

There are many great areas in London for you to find the perfect home, no matter what your price range. For some, these will be small, cramped apartments that you share with other students, while others are able to afford some of the hottest flats in London that used to be reserved for financial professionals.

Students from a Wide Range of Backgrounds

Students of all backgrounds flock to some of the top schools in London for a chance at receiving some of the best education in the world. Some of these students can barely afford the clothes on their back while others come from affluent backgrounds where money isn't an issue. That London Oddness – and How to See it

You've seen Mary Poppins gliding through its skies, while cock-er-nee cab drivers bellow, "Ah don't go sath of tha riva" and gents in bowler hats cradle bulldogs like small children. Big Ben bellicosely booms as Buckingham Palace parades the Queen's Guards and David Cameron prowls the streets like a Prime Ministerial madman.

London - the city where everything is happening. But sometimes, through the madding crowd of Union Jack memorabilia and tourist trap tat, finding something to suit your tastes can feel daunting.

That's why we've put together this list of the London less travelled. So, strap yourselves in, drop your car off at the Gatwick meet and greet and ride on through to these oddities.

Time for War!

Whether you're a pacifist or a warmongering nut job, there's no doubting the seismic impact that the Second World War had on the history of civilisation. And what better way to feel what it must have been like than to stand in the very room Winston Churchill used to strategize in.

Opposite the Churchill Museum, the War Rooms were the focus of Allied efforts to repel the Nazis. If you're a history buff, you'll be fascinated - bar a few scribblings on Churchill's legacy, the rooms have been authentically preserved.
