The University of York was established in 1963 and celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. It recently joined the prestigous Russell Group of leading UK Universities and is consistently among the top British universities and the top 100 universities in the world.

There are over 30 academic departments and research centres, with the university boasting a very good academic reputation in a wide range of subjects.

The university is largely based on a beautiful parkland campus which is home to the eight university colleges and most of the academic departments, and has recently undergone a £750m expansion, providing state-of-the-art facilities. 

The city of York, known for its history and beauty, is located nearby and was recently voted European Tourism City of the year.
